Punjabi Punjabi Pizza Paratha: Fusion Food Fun! 🍕🫓 Recipe

Ingredients 🥄

For the Dough:
2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
1 cup warm water
1 tbsp oil (ghee is amazing, if you have it!)
Pinch of salt
For the Pizza Filling:
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup finely chopped bell peppers (mix colors for extra flair!)
1/4 cup finely chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup grated paneer (Indian cheese)
2 tbsp pizza sauce (or use tomato chutney for a more Punjabi vibe!)
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1/2 tsp red chili powder (adjust to your spice level, darling!)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp garam masala
Grated mozzarella cheese (as much as your heart desires!)
Oil or ghee for cooking

Instructions 📋

First, let's make the dough! In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add the warm water, mixing until a soft, pliable dough forms. Add the oil (or ghee) and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover the dough and let it rest for at least 20 minutes. This helps the dough become extra soft and fluffy! 🌸
While the dough rests, prepare the pizza filling. In a bowl, combine the chopped onion, bell peppers, tomatoes, paneer, pizza sauce (or chutney), ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Mix everything well. Taste and adjust the spices as needed. Remember, a little extra chili never hurt anyone! 😉
Now, let's assemble the paratha! Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Roll out one ball into a circle, about 6-7 inches in diameter. Spread a thin layer of the prepared pizza filling over the paratha, leaving a little space around the edges. Sprinkle generously with grated mozzarella cheese.
Carefully fold the paratha in half, forming a semi-circle. Press the edges to seal. Gently roll out the semi-circle into a slightly larger paratha.
Heat a flat pan (tawa) or griddle over medium heat. Place the paratha on the hot pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown spots appear. Drizzle a little oil or ghee around the edges for extra crispiness.
Flip the paratha a few times, pressing gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking. The cheese should be melted and bubbly, and the paratha should be cooked through.
Remove the Punjabi Pizza Paratha from the pan and serve hot. Cut it into wedges like a pizza, if you like! Enjoy this delicious and unique fusion dish! 🍳
