Punjabi Golden Kesari Peda: A Taste of Punjab, Home & Away 🌸 Recipe

Ingredients 🥄

1 cup Milk Powder (full fat is best!)
1/2 cup Heavy Cream
1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Cardamom Powder
Pinch of Saffron Strands, soaked in 1 tablespoon of warm milk
1 tablespoon Ghee (clarified butter)
Chopped Pistachios, for garnish (optional)

Instructions 📋

First, in a non-stick pan, combine the milk powder, heavy cream, and sugar.
Stir continuously over low heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to thicken. This takes patience, so keep stirring to prevent burning!
Add the ghee and the saffron-infused milk. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes together and forms a soft dough that pulls away from the sides of the pan. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the cardamom powder and mix well.
Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool slightly until you can handle it comfortably.
Grease your hands with a little ghee. Take a small portion of the mixture and roll it into a smooth ball. Flatten it slightly to form a peda shape.
Garnish with chopped pistachios, if desired.
Repeat with the remaining mixture.
Let the pedas cool completely before serving. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy! 💖
